Edward MacKillop, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM (Neurology)

Dr. MacKillop received a bachelor's degree (magna cum laude) and doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Cornell University in 2000 and 2004, respectively. He then completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005.

Dr. MacKillop went on to complete a residency in veterinary neurology and neurosurgery at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine from 2005 to 2008. During his residency, Dr. MacKillop was voted resident of the year and was awarded the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Resident Research Award for his project on the incidence of urinary tract infection in dogs after surgery for intervertebral disk disease.

In 2008, Dr. MacKillop became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in the specialty of neurology and is currently the only board certified neurologist practicing in western Pennsylvania. Dr. MacKillop has been published in a number of peer-reviewed veterinary journals including a review of normal canine brain anatomy using MRI. His clinical interests include neuroanatomy and malformations of the central nervous system.

In his spare time, Dr. MacKillop enjoys movies, digital photography, video games and spending time with his wife, Emi, and daughter, Phoebe. He has two cats and has adopted a retired racing greyhound and a deaf English bulldog.
